Roy keane rips into everton Star, who has been ‘getting away with terrible play for years’ – he lost his cool

Roy Keane Slams Everton’s Lack of Fight, Singles Out Godfrey for Scathing Criticism

In a typically fiery outburst on Sky Sports, pundit Roy Keane didn’t hold back in his assessment of Everton’s recent performance, singling out defender Ben Godfrey for a particularly brutal critique. The former Manchester United captain, renowned for his no-nonsense approach, accused the Toffees of a collective lack of passion and desire, but reserved his harshest words for Godfrey’s individual display.

“It’s not good enough, it’s really not,” Keane began, his voice laced with trademark disdain. “You look at Everton, and there’s a real soft underbelly there. No fight, no aggression. They’re just rolling over and letting teams walk all over them.”

Keane then turned his attention to Godfrey, dissecting the defender’s performance with clinical precision. “I’m looking at Godfrey, and I’m thinking, ‘what are you doing?’ He’s a professional footballer, getting paid a lot of money, and he’s not even putting in a proper challenge. He’s backing off, he’s scared to get hurt. That’s a disgrace. That’s not what I want to see from a player wearing that shirt.”

The Irishman’s criticism extended beyond just one player, highlighting what he sees as a wider cultural issue at the club. “It’s a mentality problem,” he stated emphatically. “The whole team looks like they’ve given up. There’s no leadership, no one taking responsibility. You can talk all you want about tactics and formations, but if the players don’t have the guts to go out there and fight, you’re going nowhere. It’s embarrassing to watch.”

Keane’s comments, while controversial to some, are likely to resonate with many frustrated Everton fans who have grown weary of their team’s inconsistent and often timid performances. His uncompromising view serves as a wake-up call, challenging the players to show the kind of grit and determination that he himself embodied throughout his illustrious career.
