Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has heaped praise on Leeds United’s young midfielder, Archie Gray, calling him a “generational talent” destined for greatness. Speaking on a recent podcast, Gerrard, who has closely followed the Premier League, expressed admiration for the 19-year-old’s performances in Leeds’ midfield this season.

“Archie’s got everything,” Gerrard said. “His composure, vision, and work rate remind me of the best midfielders I played alongside. He’s fearless, and for someone so young, his decision-making is exceptional.” Gray, a product of Leeds’ academy, has been a standout in the Championship, contributing three goals and five assists in the 2024-25 campaign so far. His ability to dictate play and break up opposition attacks has drawn comparisons to Gerrard himself.

Gerrard, who previously managed Aston Villa, highlighted Gray’s versatility, noting his ability to play as a deep-lying playmaker or box-to-box midfielder. “Leeds have a gem on their hands,” he added. “If he keeps developing, he’ll be knocking on the door of the Premier League’s elite clubs soon.”

Leeds fans have embraced Gerrard’s comments, with many hopeful Gray will lead their charge for promotion. The youngster’s form has also caught the eye of England’s youth setup, signaling a bright future ahead.
