Nottingham fans demand star is benched against burnley, following his poor stats of the season – he has cost them every game

Nottingham Forest fans are growing increasingly vocal ahead of today’s match against Burnley, insisting that **Arnaud Kalimuendo** should be benched — pointing to his lacklustre performance in the recent Swansea game as evidence.

In the Carabao Cup tie versus Swansea City, Forest threw away a 2-0 lead late in the match, conceding twice in stoppage time to lose 3-2. ([Reuters][1]) Many supporters believe Kalimuendo, who came on as a substitute, failed to provide the spark needed to see out the win. ([The Guardian][2]) According to fan reactions on forums and social media, his first touch was loose, link-up play poor, and he seemed hesitant when chances to press Swansea’s high line arose.

Critics are arguing that benching Kalimuendo sends a message: complacency won’t be tolerated. They cite moments in that match where Forest, having built a comfortable lead, looked vulnerable — partly because players up front weren’t taking enough initiative. ([Reuters][1]) Some believe replacing Kalimuendo with fresher, more incisive attackers might help maintain momentum and close out tight games, especially given Forest’s shaky defensive displays late in Swansea.

There is also frustration that Kalimuendo missed or failed to capitalise on chances that could have made the comeback more difficult for Swansea. ([Reuters][1]) With Burnley expected to press aggressively, fans want a lineup that shows urgency from the off, and many think Kalimuendo does not currently bring that.

Whether manager Ange Postecoglou agrees remains to be seen. But with the pressure mounting, Forest’s decision in the starting XI may be more about restoring confidence than simply strategy.
