Butcher’s son, Christopher, sadly lost his life after he suffered from PTSD following service in Afghanistan.

“Rangers Football Club is honoured to continue the tradition of hosting our annual Remembrance Day event at lbrox, paying tribute to those who bravely served their country,” guidance read on the official club website.

A wreath-laying ceremony will take place at the John Greig Statue at 13:30, with representatives from Rangers and Kilmarnock in attendance to honour the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

Also in attendance will be representatives from Combat2Coffee, whose mission is to improve the mental health, wellbeing, and life outcomes of veterans, former service personnel, their families, and their communities.

“Among them will be former club captain Terry Butcher, a proud patron of the organisation, who also run a ‘MedalsMatches’ initiative.

“Terry has strong ties to the armed forces and tragically lost his son Christopher after he suffered from PTSD following service in Afghanistan with the British Army. Terry will also be welcomed to the pitch at half-time to discuss the importance of veteran support.

“In addition, the Rangers Charity Foundation will host a can collection in support of Poppyscotland, who have been helping servicemen, servicewomen, veterans, and their families since 1921.

“Supporters are encouraged to wear a poppy and donate to the Scottish Poppy Appeal, helping fund vital services such as advice, employment, housing, mental health, and mobility support.

In keeping with tradition, a card display has been arranged in the Sandy Jardine Stand.

“Supporters are asked to raise the material on their seat as the teams emerge from the tunnel and to hold it aloft throughout the minute’s silence.”

Kick-off tomorrow afternoon is at 3pm.
