Former Rangers manager Philippe Clement could be in the running for the Stade Rennais job if they decide to dispense with Habib Beye.
The French outfit are currently ninth in Ligue 1 with a record not too dissimilar to Rangers’ – just two wins from eight, along with five draws and a defeat.
Manager Beye is under pressure after those results, with some key decision makers at the club not happy and reportedly giving serious thought to making a change.
In fact, they already have a shortlist of possible replacements lined up, according to Foot Mercato.
And Clement is one of the names on said list, backed up by journalist Sacha Tavolieri, along with ex-Bologna and Juventus manager Thiago Motta.
Tavolieri said: As explained by @Santi_J_FM, Philippe Clement is a name on the short-list of Stade Rennais if the Breton leaders were to part ways with Habib Beye. A list that also includes the profile of… Thiago Motta. ”
Clement has been out of work since being sacked by Rangers in February this year. The Ibrox club have since had Barry Ferguson (interim), Russell Martin and now Danny Rohl in charge.
