West Ham are in talks to sign PSG midfielder Carlos Soler on a season-long loan with an obligation to buy and a long-term permanent contract, according to the Athletic.
The news outlet reported on 22 August that the Hammers will need to sell players to open the door for new signings.
The 27-year-old has found game time hard to come by at PSG and could leave before the 30 August deadline.
West Ham must move quickly to sign Carlos Soler
To expedite Soler’s move from PSG, the Hammers must swiftly conclude the sales of players like Kurt Zouma, Nayef Aguerd and Maxwel Cornet to free up funds, possibly by accepting slightly lower offers or structuring deals that benefit the buying clubs.
Simultaneously, direct negotiations with PSG should highlight the benefits of a loan with an obligation to buy, which could reduce the immediate financial burden.
Ensuring that Soler’s personal terms and long-term contract are agreed upon quickly is also crucial to avoid delays.
West Ham may need to consider additional financial strategies or restructuring to manage the transfer fee and the Spaniard’s demands for regular game time.
He will not leave PSG unless and until he’s got certain assurances as he would want to take his career to the next level and that’s only possible if he plays regularly.
The 27-year-old would undoubtedly strengthen the Hammers side so it’s a no brainer as to why Julen Lopetegui would want him.
