West Ham United winger Jarrod Bowen has to take matters into his own hands now as far as I’m concerned.
Jarrod Bowen has been sensational for West Ham over the past few seasons, with 35 goals and 18 assists since the start of the 2022/23 season to his name.
He has gone from strength to strength over the past few years, but he’s still yet to establish himself as a regular starter for England.
West Ham star Jarrod Bowen was desperately unlucky not to be given more game-time for England at the Euros out in Germany this summer just gone.
If he played for Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool or Manchester United would he have been given more game-time for the Three Lions? Probably.
Now Bowen has to make a selfish decision in my opinion – one that will really help him in the long-term.
West Ham ace Jarrod Bowen overlooked for England
After Bowen’s fine form over the past two seasons, he really should have been given more game-time for England.
Carsley giving Bowen just 17 minutes of action combined during England’s clashes with Ireland and Finland was unacceptable in my eyes.
How can other players like Anthony Gordon, Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze be given proper chances to shine, but Bowen continually has to make do with warming the bench?
In addition to that, Bukayo Saka is getting flogged to death out on the right wing. The 23-year-old Arsenal winger will break down one day from the amount of football he is playing.
Bowen is easily good enough to share minutes with the Gunners star during international breaks, but no, he just hasn’t been given a fair crack of the whip.
It’s not right in my opinion, and the West Ham star should now make an emphatic decision for the good of his own career.
Selfish Jarrod Bowen England decision needed
If he did decide to retire from international action, that decision would have a huge impact on West Ham – in a very good way.
Bowen will be 28 before the end of this year, and approaching his prime. If we are to enjoy the former Hull City star at his best for the next five years or so, managing his fitness and game-time will be crucial.
Heading off on international duty four times a year with England to train with intensity, but then just warm the bench for the most part will certainly not do him or the Hammers any favours.
It’s also worth noting that the continual snubs Bowen is receiving from the England management team cannot be good for his mentality.
Get him back to the London Stadium and make him feel like a king again I sa
It seems like England don’t need West Ham winger Jarrod Bowen, and that’s fine, he doesn’t need them either.
The 27-year-old has to be selfish here and think about himself. Retiring from international football will be the best decision he ever makes.
