Chris Sutton drops ‘ridiculous’ Sean Dyche sack verdict in Everton v Aston Villa prediciton

Chris Sutton believes Everton fans turning against Sean Dyche is “ridiculous” amid recent sack claims.

Everton have had a poor start to Premier League life this season with the club finding themselves rock bottom of the table.

The worst of their results was no doubt their most recent clash against Bournemouth where they managed to throw away a two-goal lead from the 87th minute to lose 3-2.

Writing for the BBC on 13 September in his weekly predictions, where he put Everton down to lose 2-0 against Aston Villa, Sutton shared his thoughts on Dyche’s situation.

“Everton boss Sean Dyche is under the pump after their capitulation against Bournemouth last time out,” Sutton wrote.

“It feels like some of their fans have turned against Dyche now, which I think is ridiculous, but he does need a result and unfortunately for him Villa Park is not a place I see Everton getting anything.

“The Toffees got hammered 4-0 there last season and, although they will put up a fight, they are not going to get a result on this occasion either.”

Everton need to give Sean Dyche more time

There’s no denying that Everton have made an awful start to the season in the Premier League.

Some of the players that Dyche managed to bring in over the summer have been positive additions to the Toffees’ ranks, but the likes of Jesper Lindstrom and Jake O’Brien are yet to have much of an impact on the first team with the new boys yet to really called upon in the top flight.

Dyche hasn’t yet started the aforementioned duo but the new arrivals who have started such as Iliman Ndiaye and Tim Iroegbunam have made a noticeable difference.

Lindstrom and O’Brien need time to gel with the squad and learn their ways but if the form of Ndiaye and Iroegbunam are anything to go off, it feels as if Dyche needs to include the pair as soon as possible.

These are all ifs, buts and maybes but if things don’t change soon, it will become hard to defend Dyche in terms of keeping his job.
