Everton in pursuit of Joyskim Dawa as £4m transfer news emerges, dream transfer eyed

Everton are among a host of English clubs in pursuit of Steaua Bucharest centre-back Joyskim Dawa after his man-of-the-match performance against PAOK in the Europa League, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper reported via their website on 13 October that scouts from numerous Premier League and EFL clubs were present during the European clash and the defender has seemingly impressed.

Dawa has a release clause worth around £4million in his contract and his “dream” is to play in the Premier League.

Sean Dyche will, however, have to act fast, as Fulham, Leeds United, Leicester and Burnley have also shown an interest in acquiring the centre-back’s services.

Everton need defensive reinforcement in January

The Toffees have had a rough start to Premier League life this season with the Merseyside outfit currently having just one top-flight win to their name this season.

Although things have started to look up since Dwight McNeil’s “monstrous” performance in their 2-1 home win against Crystal Palace on 28 September, things could still be improved.

James Tarkowski and Michael Keane have been Dyche’s usual centre-back pairing this term and, although the former has put in a few decent performances across the campaign, the latter has been way off the pace.

Jake O’Brien is another option Everton have but, for some reason, it feels as if his manager doesn’t trust him to start games just yet.

The fact that Dawa has been stellar in the Europa League this term outlines the ability he possesses and shows he’d be able to slot straight into Everton’s starting XI if needed.

The fact he’s available for a fee of £4million, makes the move feel like a no-brainer for the Merseyside outfit, even if they just explore the idea of buying the 28-year-old.
