Dominic Calvert-Lewin in lucrative contract negotiations at Everton after September refusal
Dominic Calvert-Lewin is currently in ongoing talks over a new deal and not actively looking to leave Everton, TEAMtalk reports.
According to the outlet’s website on 13 October the Toffees retain hope of signing the striker to a contract extension and are looking to get the deal done before January.
Despite links emerging with Juventus, who could begin discussing a pre-contract with the 27-year-old from January as his deal expires in the summer, Everton still see him as a key player and are planning on him staying.
According to i News on 4 October Calvert-Lewin had rejected the advances of the club as they looked to re-open talks, but now TEAMtalk report he is in talks having been offered a “lucrative” new deal and his relationship with the club remains positive.
The Friedkin Group takeover at Everton to lift new deal hopes
It seems likely that the incoming takeover by The Friedkin Group is going to be the clincher if Calvert-Lewin is staying on Merseyside.
He has held off signing a new deal since at least the summer thanks to ownership uncertainty [Paul Joyce, 19 July].
But with Dan Friedkin re-emerging at speed to secure a buyout agreement with Farhad Moshiri on 23 September ahead of John Textor the long-term future at Everton is looking a lot brighter.
If talks are now in progress that is bound to be the reason why, with Graeme Bailey reporting on 10 October that the club are looking to sell the striker on the promise of greater success moving forward rather than just money.
January recruitment under Friedkin or a breakout year for Chelsea loanee Armando Broja could change the picture but as things stand Calvert-Lewin remains the key man at striker for Sean Dyche.
Beto has been linked to an Italian exit too but there are no plans to allow it [TEAMtalk, 13 October], but it is the Englishman who takes the Toffees to another level when he is on form.
Even if he is to leave in coming windows it would be far more beneficial for it to be for a solid transfer fee, and the situation certainly doesn’t sound beyond repair so a contract extension could still be on the cards.
