In a recent TV2 interview, Holger Rune opened up about a significant change in his tennis journey: his mother, Anke Rune, taking a step back from his professional affairs. Formerly his manager and press handler, Anke’s role has shifted, with Rune’s media interactions now overseen by IMG.
Questions arose when Anke was notably absent from Rune’s player’s box during the Rotterdam event and did not attend the UTS event in Oslo. Rune addressed this, emphasizing that while his mother may not be physically present at every tournament, she remains a vital part of his support system, providing guidance and assistance both on and off the court.
In addition to the adjustments in his team dynamic, Rune made changes in his coaching setup, parting ways with Severin Luthi and Boris Becker earlier this season. He now looks to fellow countryman Kenneth Carlsen for coaching guidance.
On the court, Rune faced disappointment with an early exit from the Rotterdam Open, but he remains optimistic about his progress and sees potential for improvement in his game.
Looking forward, Rune sets his sights on the Los Cabos Open in Mexico, aiming to bounce back from recent setbacks and continue his journey in professional tennis.
