Everton face Fulham this weekend, in a Premier League fixture that will mean little to most.
After all, it is hardly an enthralling clash to the average viewer, yet Sky Sports still saw fit to select it for their 5:30 pm kick-off slot for Saturday afternoon.
Perhaps, the reasoning behind that move was hoping that Goodison Park might play host to another home defeat for the Toffees, who do not boast the best record when facing the Cottagers in recent history.
With that in mind, a whole host of pundits converged to offer their predictions for the match.
Sky Sports pundits predict Everton’s Premier League match vs Fulham
Speaking on The Overlap, Gary Neville, Paul Scholes, Jill Scott, Ian Wright and Roy Keane all combined in an effort to accurately predict the scoreline of six selected Premier League matches for this upcoming weekend.
Given it was chosen for TV, the Toffees were one of those matches, and their fixture tore the five pundits completely.
The former kickstarted proceedings, and in an effort to take control bluntly stated: ‘Everton vs Fulham. 1-1?’
However, Scholes had other ideas: ‘I fancy Fulham me.’ This prompted his former Manchester United teammate to make a tweak, altering the prediction to 2-1.
Wright and Keane, however, were not so agreeable, with the latter confidently claiming: ‘A draw all day.’
It was only Scott who sided with Sean Dyche’s men, whilst the Irishman continued: ‘And remember, there’s always one weird result like Bournemouth beating Arsenal.’
Scott wanted to reaffirm her support for Everton, and finished that prediction by noting: ‘Well just for the record, when Everton win, I think an Everton win. But go on.’
There might be added intrigue to this weekend’s clash, after Fulham hi-jacked Everton’s summer move for Ernest Nuamah; a deal that neither side ended up completing.
Everton do not have a good record when playing Fulham
Evertonians will have enjoyed seeing at least one of these pundits fighting their corner, but on paper, it does not look good for them.
After all, they have not beaten the West London outfit since they travelled to Craven Cottage under Carlo Ancelotti’s leadership, and looking for their latest win over them at Goodison Park, we are forced to travel back even further.
That result, a 3-0 scoreline, came all the way back in 2018, with Gylfi Sigurdsson and Cenk Tosun the scorers on the day.
The Toffees have actually lost their last four home games to Fulham, when also including their penalty shoot-out exit to them last season as well.
Everton’s manager will have a tough task on his hands to stop this run, in a match that is far harder than it might look on the surface.
