Everton urged to appoint Jose Mourinho right now as Liverpool claim made live on air
Jamie O’Hara has urged Everton to appoint Jose Mourinho with the Merseyside derby against Liverpool at the Bramley-Moore Dock stadium in mind.
The current Fenerbahce boss mooted a potential return to the Premier League in the future after drawing 1-1 against Manchester United on Thursday (24 October).
With Dan Friedkin set to come in to replace Farhad Moshiri, plus the impressive new stadium set to open next year, O’Hara urged the Toffees to go and get the ex-Chelsea boss when speaking live on the talkSPORT Sports Bar (24 October, 10:52pm).
O’Hara said: “Imagine him turning up against Liverpool at Everton. Mourinho, Merseyside derby, new stadium. It would be good. We need him back.”
Jason Cundy agreed as he added: “It’d be gold.”
O’Hara replied sharply saying: “Everton and West Ham, pull your finger out and get Mourinho now.”
There has been plenty of discussion around the future of Sean Dyche at Goodison if TFG comes in as the new owners in the coming weeks or months.
As it stands, it would prove to be a bitter blow for the ex-Burnley boss given the recent form of the Toffees after a difficult start to the campaign.
Everton have gone four unbeaten in the Premier League, picking up a 2-0 win last time out away against newly promoted Ipswich Town.
Despite this, the potential new board could come in and opt for a change in the dugout with Mourinho being an obvious link given his history with Friedkin at Roma – albeit it ended sourly.
There is no doubt that the ex-Man United manager would bring an X-factor to Merseyside, which could go for or against them.
The Portuguese manager could get the best out of the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, similarly to Carlo Ancelotti, given the style of play he employs.
It could prove to be a risk for the Toffees to bring the 61-year-old but there would be plenty of excitement from supporters and beyond if it was to happen.
In other Everton news, new stadium footage has been released of Bramley-Moore Dock under the lights.
