Everton fans have demanded that Ashley Young retire from professional football after his performance against Fulham.
Sean Dyche’s side picked up a point at Goodison Park after a 1-1 draw on Saturday (26 October), with former player Alex Iwobi scoring for Fulham as Beto got a crucial 94th-minute equaliser.
Young’s defending was called into question during that goal as Emile Smith Rowe danced past him, with the experienced full-back failing to win the ball with his dramatic slide tackle.
The experienced defender only managed a 67% tackle success rate, and lost half of his aerial duels throughout the game.
Young provided a crucial moment in the game by providing the assist for Everton’s drastic late goal.
The draw left the Merseyside giants 15th in the Premier League table, sitting six points above the relegation zone.
Everton fans have questioned if Ashley Young should continue
Young is the second-oldest player in the Premier League at 39 years old, and his contract at Goodison Park expires at the end of this season.
However, he has remained a consistent presence in Dyche’s team as he has started seven of their nine fixtures in the league this season.
Everton fans have seen enough and admitted his performance was “hard to watch,” and that he should retire.
In other news, Kevin Thelwell will jet out for Everton talks with Serie A club – Keith Wyness.
