Dominic Calvert-Lewin has struggled to get involved as Everton face Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday.

With the Toffees expected to claim all three points from the Saints, who are one of the sides fighting to avoid relegation, the early signs from Sean Dyche’s side have been far from ideal.

Chances have been limited for either side, with James Tarkowski’s yellow card the biggest talking point from the first half, and Dyche must address the lack of chances at the half-time break.

Beto’s confidence will have sky-rocketed after netting the crucial equaliser during the 1-1 draw with Fulham and he could certainly be the direct replacement for Calvert-Lewin.

The Saints have only earned one point from their first nine matches of the Premier League campaign, which leaves all the pressure on the Toffees to claim the victory.

Calvert-Lewin’s displays have been far better than last term, having already bagged two goals and an assist in the league so far, but he has just not been at the races on the coast.

Despite the creative forces in Dwight McNeil, Jesper Lindstrom and Iliman Ndiaye, Calvert-Lewin has not been able to get involved at all and it is really hindering the Toffees’ attack.

It is certainly a risky decision, with a goal likely to come through the striker when playing at his best, but Dyche cannot afford to drop points at St Mary’s Stadium, and Calvert-Lewin could take the hit.
