Former Everton academy graduate wins his third trophy in five years after leaving for £4m
Armstrong is being linked with a loan move to Barrow after impressing with the under-21s and in cameos with Sean Dyche’s side.
The 17-year-old midfielder has been tipped to have a big future at the football club by Dyche, so they may well decide to rebuff any interest in his signature this Janaury transfer window.
Though, for every success story from the academy, there’s always examples of talented players who just haven’t been able to make it at Goodison Park.

Tyias Browning wins another league title
Everton sanctioned the sale of academy graduate Tyias Browning at the start of 2019 after he struggled to break into the first team – making just nine senior appearances for the club.
Chinese Super League outfit Guangzhou Evergrande shelled out £4m on his signature and he went on to make over 60 appearances for the club, winning the league title in his first season.
Browning made the switch to SH Port in 2022 and has added a second and third title to his trophy cabinet.
The now 30-year-old is also a regular for the Chinese national team and has collected 31 caps, netting one goal.

Antonee Robinson another former Everton academy gem doing well elsewhere
Antonee Robinson is another example of an academy player who Everton let go and is flourishing elsewhere.
The Toffees allowed Robinson to join Wigan Athletic on a permanent deal in 2019 and since then, he’s been on a rapid rise to become one of the best left-backs in the Premier League.
The now 27-year-old is a regular with Fulham and has amassed almost half a century of caps for the US national team.
