Everton flop sold for £25m is now outshining Dominic Calvert-Lewin with 8 goals in 13 games

Everton’s recruitment during Farhad Moshiri’s reign has been really hit-and-miss.

The Toffees were once the big spenders in the Premier League for a two or three year period but that all came crashing down when Financial Fair Play constraints took a hold.

They made so many transfer blunders that ultimately resulted in them plummeting into financial difficulties – which in turn has put their Premier League status at risk over the last couple of years.

Even now, Everton are still suffering from their scatter gun approach in the market as they languish in 16th place.

Though, one of their big-money acquisitions that flopped at Goodison Park has now turned prolific elsewhere and is outshining Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Former Everton striker Moise Kean flourishing at Fiorentina

When Moise Kean arrived at Everton in 2019, he joined with much fanfare and excitement after showing great promise with Juventus.

But, for whatever reason, Kean’s career at Goodison Park never took off as he netted just four goals in 39 appearances.

So when Juventus opted to resign him for £25m in 2023, it looked like great business from The Toffees – but it’s not really transpired like that.

Kean has now turned into a prolific striker at Fiorentina having netted eight times in 13 outings so far this season.

The 24-year-old has got himself back into the international picture with Italy, too, and scored against Israel in September.

Now, the decision to sell him is beginning to look like a mistake as Calvert-Lewin continues to misfire for The Toffees.

Everton really need to sign a striker in January

Calvert-Lewin’s goal record over the last few seasons is pretty pitiful and there’s been no improvement this year.

In fact, Everton fans have called for Calvert-Lewin to be dropped for Beto, who’s not exactly setting the world alight either.

So it’s become so obvious that a striker is needed during the January transfer window unless Armando Broja immediately gets the goals upon his return from injury.
