Newcastle United have finally gained momentum following the dismal summer transfer window. Back-to-back wins over Chelsea and Arsenal have reignited faith in a campaign that threatened to peter out before the festive period.
Eddie Howe’s men now take on Nottingham Forest – the Premier League’s surprise package this season. Should they maintain their momentum going into the winter months, a positive January could springboard the Magpies into the second half of the campaign.
The rumour mill has already begun churning despite Newcastle’s dealing stalling due to FFP/PSR restrictions. No significant signings in the summer has placed pressure on sporting director Paul Mitchell to deliver.
