Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is ruled out with a Grade 3 thigh injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that it is not the Grade 4 rupture that was worst feared so it is better than expected.

Had it been that, the England international would have needed surgery, but that is not the case, as things stand.

Calvert-Lewin, 27, is still expected to be ruled out for a few more weeks.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has taken a while to recover from the injury

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Dr Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Calvert-Lewin: “I reckon the injury is a Grade 3 thigh injury rather than the feared Grade 4 rupture which might have required surgery but it’s not needed now.

These can take significant time to recover from so the timeline aligns with that.

He will be ruled out for a few more weeks, at least.

The Englishman has been ruled out since 25 January – the game in which Toffees secured a 1-0 victory against Brighton.

After dealing with fitness issues in recent years, prior to this setback, he had been injury-free in this Bseason.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin may not be at Everton next season

The Toffees striker’s deal runs out at the end of the season and he seems no closer to penning a new contract.

Despite the change of manager and move to Bramley-Moore Dock next season, Calvert-Lewin seems to be sceptical for some reason.

It may be wise to ask him for a definitive answer and if he does not want to commit, then the club can begin their search for alternatives.

David Moyes would need a proven goal scorer and the Friedkin Group are expected to make a big transfer budget available in the summer.

While Beto has shown flashes of his brilliance, he’s best suited as a backup striker as he cannot be relied on to get 15-20 league goals per season.

Who Moyes turns to, remains to be seen, but Kevin Thelwell may already be looking at potential striker options who would be open to moving to Merseyside this summer.
