Alexander Isak’s UNREAL price tag moves Liverpool agreement even closer

Newcastle United have slapped an insane price tag on Alexander Isak but this only increases the likelihood of him joining Liverpool.
Newcastle United have slapped an insane price tag on Alexander Isak but this only increases the likelihood of him joining Liverpool.
According to the Daily Mirror, Newcastle won’t sell Isak for anything less than £150m. That is the price tag they have set on their prized asset, who has a contract at the club until 2028.
At first glance, yes that price tag seems insane. Simply unbelievable that in 2025 we are talking about these kind of figures, these unreal sums.

But then again it was only just under two years ago when Moises Caicedo went to Chelsea for £115m. If a holding midfielder was worth that amount, Isak’s price tag can be understood.
And any other year we would say this would pretty much end Liverpool’s chances of signing the Swedish forward. But not this summer.

Because Liverpool should have a war chest this summer, a war chest that could easily afford Isak. In fact, at that price range it’s only Liverpool who can really afford him.
With the Premier League’s strict Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), clubs are limited to how much they can spend in comparison to the money coming in.

If Liverpool win the Premier League title they should have plenty of extra funds.
But even without winning the title, Liverpool are the only club in a position where they can afford to spend £150m on one player.

Since making an offer of £112m for Moises Caicedo, Liverpool have spent very frugal amounts of money. This season, Liverpool have spent the least amount of money in the entire league. Whereas their rivals have splashed the cash, Liverpool have been very conservative.
