Exciting Everton youngster is demanding David Moyes call-up after returning from long-term injury

Everton have a number of exciting youngsters who are looking to make an impression on the first team.

Since returning to Merseyside, David Moyes has experienced a number of selection issues with injuries riddling the squad.
It has been up front where Everton have been so badly affected with three of their four senior strikers currently sidelined.

Another player out is Iliman Ndiaye, who faces weeks of rehabilitation through his ligament injury, which he suffered in the Merseyside Derby.

But there is one young defender who is looking to make a breakthrough under Moyes from the Everton academy sooner rather than later.

Striker Martin Sherif has been included in Everton’s matchday squads of late with options up top rather thin through the injury issues.

This does, however, show that the 61-year-old is willing to offer the young prospects an opportunity with the senior side.

Speaking to the Everton website, defender William Tamen has admitted he wants to be one of the next in line to earn the trust of Moyes.
“Everyone in the Academy strives to be where the first team are,” said Tamen. “You look at people like Martin Sherif, they’re getting those first team opportunities, same with Isaac Heath and Roman Dixon,” he said.
“That’s where I aspire to be. Hopefully, I can get more training sessions up there and learn a lot from players like James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite.”

The 18-year-old only joined Everton last summer from Burton Albion, but his game time has been extremely limited due to injury.

Tamen spent around five months out after suffering a meniscus injury back in the early stages of the campaign.

But it is clear he is desperate to make a name for himself at Finch Farm.

An interesting few months lie ahead for Everton with a large player turnover expected to take place over the summer.

Jarrad Branthwaite is receiving interest from Real Madrid as his future remains uncertain.

The Toffees also need to consider Michael Keane’s expected exit from Everton, as his current contract is set to expire.

Potentially, this could open the door for someone like Tamen to be handed an opportunity in pre-season to impress Moyes.

But fans are likely going to demand a new senior centre-back whether that is to replace or simply provide backup to Branthwaite.
