Everton eyeing Richarlison as Dominic Calvert-Lewin replacement
Everton are looking to re-sign Richarlison as a potential replacement for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, with Tottenham open to a sale.
According to a report from Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Everton would love to bring Richarlison back to the club. The Toffees are on the lookout for a new striker, as Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s future is up in the air. They have been linked with quite a few top strikers, and their former star is also a part of their wishlist
Richarlison made a name for himself while playing for Everton. He had a four-year-long spell at Goodison Park, during which he was involved in a total of 152 games and ended up contributing towards 66 goals. His impressive performances had put him on the wishlist of multiple top clubs in Europe.
In the end, Tottenham struck a deal worth £60 million to sign the Brazilian international in the summer of 2022. While the former Everton star did have a decent start to life in North London, things have not really clicked for him at his new club. He only has 18 goals and nine assists in his 80 outings.
Meanwhile, the 27-year-old has struggled to stay fit in the ongoing campaign and is no longer that important a part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans. Despite his contract running until 2027, Spurs were ready to offload him last summer when Saudi Pro League clubs expressed their interest in him.
While the player decided against leaving, Tottenham’s stance has not changed. The North London outfit remain open to his departure and could get an opportunity to cash in on him as his former club, Everton, have emerged as a potential destination.
Everton looking to bring Richarlison back
The Toffees are interested in bringing him back if he shows a willingness to do so. They are already in the market for a new striker as Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s contract runs out at the end of the season, and he has shown little desire to pen a new deal. While Beto has done wonders under David Moyes, they still need more firepower as they gear up for the start of a new era at Bramley-Moore Dock.
People at the Merseyside club have high regard for Richarlison, and he certainly has a strong relationship with the fans, which was displayed when he applauded them after their away fixture at Goodison Park earlier in the season. With Everton eager to bring him back and Tottenham willing to sell, the final decision rests with the player.
