Newcastle United fans have made their feelings clear following a fresh contract update on one of their senior players.
The Magpies have a number of individuals who are due to be out of contract at St James’ Park at the end of this season.
Fabian Schar, Callum Wilson, Jamaal Lascelles and Jamal Lewis are among those who could be set to depart on free transfers in the summer, while the future of star men such as Alexander Isak remain a major focus.
However, it appears as though the future of Schar is now moving closer to being decided following the latest Newcastle news.

It has been a tough week for Newcastle with Anthony Gordon set to be suspended for the Carabao Cup final later this month after being sent off in their FA Cup defeat to Brighton.

Newcastle United fans underwhelmed by new deal update
A number of Newcastle fans had been left disappointed by the performance of Schar during that loss against Brighton on Sunday (2 March).
As a result, many followers disputed the claim that this is a “positive” update for Eddie Howe‘s side as they took to X to react to a potential new deal for Schar.
While some suggested that the centre-back should be no more than a squad player from next season, given his poor recent form, and the fact he will be 34 in December.
Meanwhile, others were adamant that Newcastle will still need to sign at least one new centre-back in the summer transfer window, even if the Swiss international stays at the club, with one suggesting that a news of an extension meant the days “can’t get any worse” at St. James’ right now.
