“Newcastle Poised to Ruthlessly Dismiss Eddie Howe, Says Simon Jordan, Despite Carabao Cup Feat”

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has been labeled a “gatekeeper” by Simon Jordan, who suggests that despite the club’s recent progress, Howe’s long-term future remains uncertain. Jordan believes the Magpies may soon look for a new manager to elevate them from European contenders to Premier League title challengers.

This speculation comes as Newcastle United prepares for a significant moment in their history. They are set to face Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final, presenting them with a golden opportunity to end a major trophy drought that has lasted 70 years. This marks their second Carabao Cup final in just three seasons, highlighting their steady progress under Howe. Additionally, Newcastle remains firmly in the hunt for Champions League qualification, currently sitting sixth in the Premier League and just two points off the top four.

However, despite these achievements, talkSPORT pundit Jordan remains unconvinced that Howe is the right man to lead Newcastle into a new era of dominance. Speaking on the matter, Jordan reiterated his stance that Howe is merely a transitional figure, steering the club in the right direction but unlikely to be trusted with its ultimate ambitions.

“I’ve always believed that Howe is a gatekeeper,” Jordan stated. “I don’t say that as an insult—I even told him this when we spoke. People like Alan Pardew took offense to the term, but they misunderstood my point. Ultimately, Newcastle’s owners, the Saudi-backed PIF, didn’t invest in the club to simply win a domestic cup competition. Their ambitions lie in securing Premier League titles and Champions League triumphs. The League Cup, while significant for the fans, is just a stepping stone for them.”

Jordan acknowledged that Howe has done an excellent job in transforming Newcastle into a competitive and exciting team, one that is respected and feared in the Premier League. However, he questioned whether Howe has the tactical acumen and authority to guide them to the highest honors in football.

“Maybe he’ll win the League Cup this weekend,” Jordan continued. “But the bigger picture is more complex. It’s not just about Howe—it’s also about the financial constraints placed on the club that could limit their ability to compete at the highest level. That could ultimately mean that in the next 18 months, Newcastle might move on from Howe in search of a manager who aligns more closely with their lofty ambitions.”

He even speculated that if Howe were to leave Newcastle, he might be in contention for a future role with the England national team. “Who knows? He might find himself knocking on the FA’s door as a potential successor to Thomas Tuchel.”

Jordan’s comments add fuel to ongoing speculation about Newcastle’s long-term managerial plans. While Howe has undeniably revitalized the club, some believe he is merely paving the way for a high-profile successor. For now, however, his immediate focus remains on securing silverware and keeping Newcastle firmly in the Champions League race.
