Newcastle handed huge suspension boost ahead of Spurs clash as star player escaped the prospect of a two-game ban– One down, one to go!

Anthony Gordon has dodged the possibility of receiving a two-game suspension due to accumulating yellow cards, and Bruno Guimaraes will be aiming for a similar outcome this week.

According to Premier League regulations, if a player accumulates 10 bookings before the 33rd game of the season, they will face a two-game suspension.

Gordon entered Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Fulham with eight yellow cards, indicating that he needed to receive cautions at Craven Cottage and in the upcoming home match against Spurs (our 32nd game) to face a suspension. Since he avoided a booking over the weekend, he is now in the clear.

On the other hand, Bruno extended his streak of avoiding a yellow card to 13 games at Fulham. However, the Tottenham match marks the final game where he is at risk. If he receives a booking against Ange Postecoglou’s side, he will be compelled to miss our trip to Crystal Palace and the home clash with Sheffield United later this month.

Hopefully, Bruno maintains his discipline and doesn’t falter at the last moment. Losing him for two games would be a significant setback, especially considering our midfield injuries. Nonetheless, it’s reassuring to have Gordon’s availability secured as we approach the final seven games of the 2023/24 season.
