West Ham United look certain to wave goodbye to Mohammed Kudus this summer, albeit not to Tottenham as first feared.

Tottenham have already lodged at least one bid for Kudus, which West Ham knocked back in the hope of a higher offer.

West Ham know that they will likely have to sell Kudus this summer if they are to free up funds for other transfers, with the Hammers so far slow off the mark in that regard.

However, it now appears that Chelsea is the most likely destination for Kudus following a transfer twist involving another London club in Arsenal.

Chelsea set to make fresh Kudus bid

Chelsea confirmed the signing of Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund on Saturday (5 July) in the latest high-profile deal to go through in the Premier League this summer, with West Ham being left behind.

According to The Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg (5 July) that could see Arsenal ramp up their pursuit of Chelsea’s Noni Madueke.

And in turn, it is reported that West Ham now expect Chelsea to make a new offer for Kudus if Madueke is indeed sold.

West Ham do not want to sell to Tottenham, but they are more open to doing business with Chelsea for the Ghana international.

It is far from ideal having to sell arguably the second biggest asset in the squad – behind Jarrod Bowen – to a city rival.

However, many West Ham fans will be glad he is not going to Tottenham on the basis of this latest update.

Kudus will leave a void to be filled at West Ham

Kudus’ levels dropped off massively last season, but that is not to say he will not be missed if he does indeed move on.

The versatile forward was a regular starter under Julen Lopetegui and then Graham Potter, so he will leave a void to be filled.

West Ham continue to be linked with a number of attacking players, albeit it is mainly defenders being linked with moves to the London Stadium right now.

If Kudus is to move on, this sale needs to happen soon so that the money can quickly be reinvested back into a squad that needs major upgrades.
