Danny Dyer Reveals Only Two Clubs He’d Sanction Jarrod Bowen’s West Ham Exit For
West Ham United superfan and future father-in-law to Jarrod Bowen, Danny Dyer, has candidly admitted there are only two clubs he would begrudgingly allow the Hammers’ star forward to leave for. While fiercely loyal to West Ham and a huge admirer of Bowen, Dyer acknowledged that certain opportunities would be too significant to turn down for the England international.
In a segment for Sky Sports’ “The Football Museum” podcast and further discussed on talkSPORT, Dyer, who shares a close bond with Bowen (who is engaged to his daughter Dani), named Real Madrid and Manchester City as the only acceptable destinations.
Dyer was emphatic in his dismissal of any other Premier League club, particularly London rivals. When asked about Arsenal, he famously retorted, “He’s never going to do that, why would he? What’s in it for him?” He similarly expressed disinterest in a move to Chelsea.
His rationale for Real Madrid was simple: “He’s got to go then, hasn’t he? Real Madrid? Yeah, for sure.” The allure of the Spanish giants and the chance to play at the highest level of European football would, for Dyer, be an understandable draw.
Regarding Manchester City, Dyer’s acceptance was more of a reluctant nod, acknowledging the consistent success and ambition of the reigning Premier League champions.
Dyer has often spoken of his immense pride in Bowen’s achievements at West Ham, including his winning goal in the Europa Conference League final. Despite his deep affection for the player and the club, his comments highlight the unique standing of a select few European powerhouses in the footballing landscape. While West Ham are desperate to keep their talisman, Dyer’s perspective offers a glimpse into the kind of moves that even the most devoted fan might eventually concede to.
