Nottingham Forest are set to sign another player to take their tally of incoming deals to four for the summer transfer window.

Igor Jesus signed for Forest from Botafogo to get the ball rolling, with his teammate Jair Cunha the next to sign as a new central defender.

Dan Ndoye was added last week from Forest, with the right-sided forward signing to replace Anthony Elanga, who left for Newcastle in a deal worth £60 million.

Nuno Espirito Santo wants four new players as a minimum and now Forest are set to increase the depth options within the squad.

Nottingham Forest agree deal for Angus Gunn

The goalkeeper is set to sign for Forest with immediate effect, according to Fabrizio Romano, as the Reds end their search for a substitute stopper.

Matz Sels won the Golden Glove last season and naturally, he will be the club’s number one custodian for the 2025/26 campaign after signing a new deal.

Gunn joins after doing pre-season with the PFA scheme and has been on the lookout for a club since being released by Norwich at the end of last season.

He made 172 appearances for the Canaries during his time at Carrow Road, keeping 47 clean sheets, but failed to win a new deal with the EFL outfit.

Gunn has also played for Southampton and Stoke City after being on the books with Manchester City as a youngster.

Forest can now spend money in other areas of the pitch

This is hardly the most glamorous signing that Forest will ever make, but it might prove to be a clever one.

The Reds have managed to snap up an experienced 29-year-old to act as a backup to Sels and can now focus on spending transfer funds elsewhere.

Former Norwich City boss David Wagner called Gunn brilliant in training when he was in charge at the East Anglia club and this might be a shrewd move.

At his former clubs, Gunn has had a mistake in his locker, but ultimately, people said the same about Sels and now the club’s new goalkeeping coach, Wayne Hennessey, will help him become a more competent stopper at this level.

Nottingham Forest are going in search of more new players before the Premier League season gets underway in just under two weeks.

Anthony Elanga was sold to Newcastle this summer but since Forest managed to sign Morgan Gibbs-White to a new contract, things have started to get rolling.

Dan Ndoye joined Forest from Bologna for a fee worth £37 million and more players look set to follow him through the door at the City Ground.

Nuno Espirito Santo would like four new players at Forest before the season gets underway at home to Brentford.

Nottingham Forest rival Wolves for Juanlu Sanchez

According to Tutto Mercato Web, Forest are in the mix to sign the full-back this summer, with Wolves also in the race to get a deal for him over the line.

Sanchez is currently playing for Sevilla and has attracted interest from Napoli, with the Serie A club walking away in recent days from landing him.

The 21-year-old operates as a right-back, and he would provide very useful competition for Ola Aina should Forest manage to win this particular race.

Sanchez is valued at £18 million, and that represents a complete drop in the ocean for a player who scored five goals and claimed five assists in 35 appearances last season.

The bad news for Forest, however, is that Wolves do look to be leading the race at the moment and the club might have to get busy to sign the Spanish performer.

Forest need reinforcements at full-back

With Aina on the right and Neco Williams on the left, Forest do appear to be well set when it comes to starting options at right-back, and any player who does arrive will automatically be backup.

That will naturally make life hard when it comes to signing a new full-back, but it’s fair to say that Forest probably need two new options for those positions.

Sanchez has made four appearances for Spain during his career and that makes him something of a steal when it comes to his £18 million price tag.

Forest are very light in the full-back department and hopefully something can happen before a ball is kicked on the new campaign.
