Tottenham Hotspur have intensified their pursuit of highly-rated Argentine midfielder Nico Paz, submitting a second bid worth £50 million to secure his services from Serie A side Como 1907. The North London club had previously tabled an opening offer in the region of £40 million, but it was swiftly rejected, as Como made it clear they value the 19-year-old at a significantly higher figure.

According to multiple reports in Italy and England, Como will only begin negotiations if Spurs meet their £60 million asking price, with some outlets suggesting their valuation could be as high as £70 million. Adding another layer of complexity to the deal, Real Madrid hold a 50% sell-on clause and retain various buy-back options, given that Paz originally came through Los Blancos’ youth system before moving to Como on a permanent deal earlier this summer.

Tottenham’s interest in Paz comes after their failed attempt to sign Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace, with chairman Daniel Levy and head coach Thomas Frank now looking at alternative creative options to bolster their midfield. Frank is said to be a huge admirer of Paz’s versatility, technical ability, and vision on the ball, qualities that fit perfectly into his tactical rebuild at Spurs.

Paz enjoyed a breakthrough campaign with Como last season, playing a vital role in their promotion push and early Serie A displays. His performances have attracted attention from several top European clubs, including Juventus and Inter Milan, but Tottenham are currently leading the chase with their financial muscle and clear desire to close a deal before the transfer deadline.

While Como remain reluctant sellers, a second bid of £50 million demonstrates Spurs’ seriousness and signals that they could yet bridge the gap. Whether Tottenham will return with an improved third offer closer to Como’s demands remains to be seen, but it is clear that Nico Paz has become a priority target in North London.

For Tottenham, landing Paz would not only fill the creative void left by missing out on Eze but also represent a statement signing as they aim to push for a top-four finish under their new manager.
