Jamie carragher ruthlessly hit out ‘absolute bloody rubbish’ from Ange Postecoglou’s tactics against Burnley

Pundit and Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has once again targeted Ange Postecoglou, this time after Nottingham Forest’s disappointing 1-1 draw with Burnley. While a point on the road is a step forward for the struggling side, Carragher was quick to criticize Postecoglou’s trademark tactics, arguing that his rigid, all-out attacking philosophy is a liability for a team in Forest’s position.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Carragher voiced his concerns over the team’s balance, particularly after they took an early lead through Neco Williams. “I look at this Forest team and I see a manager trying to play a beautiful style of football, but it’s completely unsuited to the players he has,” Carragher stated. “They go 1-0 up, and what do they do? They keep leaving themselves wide open at the back, inviting pressure from a team like Burnley who are just waiting for a chance to pounce.”

Carragher pointed to the soft equalizer from Jaidon Anthony, which came after a period of intense pressure from Burnley. “There’s no game management. You have to adapt. You have to be pragmatic when the situation calls for it,” he argued. “But Postecoglou’s approach seems to be ‘we’ll play our way, and if it doesn’t work, we’ll lose.'”

The former defender’s criticism echoes sentiments he expressed about Postecoglou’s previous tenure at Tottenham, where he consistently questioned the manager’s refusal to change tactics to suit different opponents and game states. For Carragher, the draw against Burnley was not a sign of progress, but another example of a manager being too stubborn to adapt, a trait he believes will ultimately be the club’s downfall.
