Newcastle United set for double transfer exit – confidence grows on transformative incoming deal

Aaron Ramsdale looks certain to be the next Newcastle United signing after what has been a challenging summer.
Confidence is growing that a deal for Aaron Ramsdale can be pushed through by Newcastle United – and it looks certain to end Martin Dubravka’s stay on Tyneside.
The Magpies have endured a challenging summer, with a raft of high profile knock backs ensuring the club’s transfer team, headed up by Andy Howe, the head coach, players and fans have all been left disappointed so far this window. Newcastle have, so far, only been able to sign Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest, while they’ve seen the likes of James Trafford, Matheus Cunha, Liam Delap and Hugo Ekitike slip through their fingers. They’ve also fallen short in pursuit of the likes of Bryan Mbeumo and, as yet, Yoane Wissa.

Those transfer frustrations on the incoming front have only been compounded by the news that main man Alexander Isak has told the club he wants to explore leaving. Liverpool are poised to bid for the player, with terms expected to be presented as soon as this week.
For that reason it’s important the Magpies push through some deals to support head coach Eddie Howe, ahead of a campaign which is set to present Champions League challenges.
Aaron Ramsdale to NUFC – loan deal
Southampton keeper Ramsdale looks certain to be the first through the door in a busy final few weeks, with the club’s in agreement broadly on the terms of a loan deal. That deal is set to include an option for the Magpies to make the deal permanent in the summer for a set fee. Importantly, this is not an obligation to buy, just an option.
In many ways, it’s a genius deal for Newcastle to strike. It allows them to dedicate their remaining transfer funds to other areas of the squad, as well as plug a gap which many thought, including themselves, would be filled by James Trafford, who is off the Manchester City.
Nick Pope would remain No.1, but given his injury record in recent seasons, United would have an England international ready to step in, when required. Ramsdale, I’m sure, would also fancy the challenge of becoming the Magpies’ more permanent No.1 – with a deal reassessed by the club next summer. Ramsdale’s style of play could also be transformative for United, with the keeper much more comfortable with the ball at feet, something Pope struggles with, highlighted by the Magpies’s last two summer friendlies.
Martin Dubravka to exit
This incoming will see movement among the keeper department, with Dubravka set to end his stint on Tyneside this summer. The Slovakian put off an exit in January to aid the club with the fitness of Pope uncertain.
It’s understood he will now be allowed to leave, despite flying out to the club’s camp in South Korea in the last few days.
Odysseas Vlacodimos is also being pushed out the door, with the club welcoming loan offers for the player.
